  Product Definition of B.I.B.  
 

The BioEnterics Intragastric Balloon (B.I.B.) is a saline-filled silicone balloon with a radiopaque valve that can be seen on x-rays.

Adjustable

No sharp edges

Free floating in stomach

Less traumatic to stomach wall

 
     

 


 

  Indications  
 

Reduction of an operative risk (eg Hip operations, obesity surgery etc.), due to weight reduction

Predictor for restrictive surgery

Patients who do not want to have obesity surgery

In general the B.I.B. is indicated for temporary use in weight loss therapy for patients who have to achieve weight loss.

 
     

 


 

  Contraindication  
 

Gastric ulcers

Severe oesophagitis

Large hiatal hernia

Abnormality osophagus / stomach

Pregnancy

Aspirine / Anticoagulants

 
     

 


 

  Complications  
 

Gastric discomfort - nausea vomiting

Feeling of heaviness in abdomen

Gastroesophageal reflux - Can be treated with medication

Balloon deflation. Obstruction of the intestine (very rare)

Gastric ulcers not seen yet with B.I.B.
