Dear Colleague ,

further information of the 10th International Expert Meeting, Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Diseases  from Sunday 11th to Wednesday 14th  March 2012 in Saalfelden, Austria will be provided soon. We will try to give an excellent overview about major topics related to progress in the laparoscopic treatment of Morbid Obesity.

In the Harvard business review from April 2011 the Editor in Chief noted in his Editorial that in business nothing is a better teacher than failure. We are programmed at an early age to think that failure is bad. That belief prevents organizations from effectively learning from their missteps. We will invite a distinguished manager, aviation trainer and mental trainer.

I agree with A.G.Lafley (former Proctor and Gamble CEO) that "I think of my failures as a gift". Our next meeting will have the Topic:

THE FAILURE

Understand it – Learn from it – Recover from it

We will do our best to follow the FCPA- (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) and the Eucomed- Guidelines on Interactions with Sponsored Participant Healthcare Professionals (www.usdoj.gov/criminal/fraud/fcpa and www.eucomed.com).

With kind regards

K. Miller, MD, FACS
